What does the service involve?
The Advanced service involves pharmacists providing advice and NHS-funded treatment, where clinically appropriate, for seven common conditions:
- sinusitis
- sore throat
- acute otitis media
- infected insect bite
- impetigo
- shingles
- uncomplicated urinary tract infections in women.
Consultations for these seven clinical pathways can be provided to patients presenting to the pharmacy as well as those referred by NHS 111, general practices and others.
The below common illnesses are within scope of this scheme and can safely be treated at community pharmacy.

- Dermatitis,
- Diarrhoea,

- Hay Fever,
- Headaches,
- Head Lice,
- High Temperature,
- Indigestion,
- Infant Colic,
- Minor Burns & Wounds,
- Nappy Rash,
- Oral Thrush in Children,
- Pain,
- Piles,
- Scabies,
- Sore Throat,
- Teething Pain,
- Thread Worms,
- Vaginal Thrush,
- Verrucas,
- Vomiting,
- Warts.
